swazy* is someone that we’ve been waiting to show off. His music is undeniably progressive and creative with an arsenal of left-field sound design and catchy progressions. From some of the hardest bass that ears can find to the creative vocal processing, swazy* has knocked song after song out of the park with his own style. His newest 5-track EP “Caged” is no exception and might be his strongest songs to date.
Each song has a well developed vision and sound, from the breakbeat, fast, and DnB-influenced pop hit, that is “Let Me Out”, to the dreamy and experimental “Lost It All”. With themes of suicide and self doubt, swazy* does his very best at portraying the idea of being a bird trapped in a cage. Ready to fly and climb to newer heights but confined to the box or the world around him. swazy* as well as his collaborators, have proven time and time again that their sound is fresh and hard. Moments like what you get from “Lost It All” is proof enough that swazy* is a true artist, fine tuning the exact sound he wants from a track. Then to turn around the next song and end the album with such a different sound, on “In This World”. Taking a triumphant sound and having such a time of reflection and self-doubt reflected in the lyrical content is such a powerful way to close out such a short but, sweet EP. It makes us really anxious to see what the future holds for swazy* and more excited to hear what he has to say next. This is something we would definitely recommend to anyone and will look back on when we think of music from 2022.
