dreamgoth: This EP is A Spectacular Showcase of Creativity and Talent.

damien grey is a brand new EP by Texas born non-binary producer Marshal Spaulding, under the alias of their dream-like and often nightmare-ish persona dreamgoth. This EP takes a step in a different direction for dreamgoth and has long been the quieter part of Marshal’s many projects. Named after the alias that Marshal had originally planned to release this music under, damien grey is a journey of swirling guitars, washes of vocal layers, and psychedelic soundscapes. Taking inspiration from Marshal’s love for genres like dreampop and shoegaze, and a lifelong unadmitted desire to make pop music, this EP is truly the first of its kind in dreamgoth’s official catalog. Featuring four songs written and performed by Marshal, recorded in their bedroom and tirelessly tweaked and kneaded for nearly a year. The six months after, they were able to spend time with Matt Parmenter at the Ice Cream Factory in Austin, TX,  re-recording vocals, as well as, guitars, and laying down the final mixes of the songs. The EP was given its final touches, but a manic urge took Marshal into a search through their catalog to find songs written beside the four on the EP in late 2019.

After digging up and polishing three bonus tracks, dreamgoth still wasn’t satisfied and added even more extra bonus tracks bringing the extended EP to 11 songs but, only when you buy the limited CD run will you get to hear all 11 tracks. damien grey features performances by Jasamine White-Gluz of shoegaze legends No Joy, and Jonathan Gomez as Mountain Body, as well as, a song written and recorded by the magical Andrea Cortez. We couldn’t recommend this EP more. One of the most emotional and impactful rides of the year. Marshal proves their high level artistry with layered progressions and all around versatility inside of the sound itself. No matter if you listen to what’s available on the internet or order the CD, we believe almost everyone will enjoy a piece of this polished sound.
